Just spotted this leaderboard on the Sun, which contains a very interesting partnership.
It’s brilliant that Google are encouraging small businesses to test direct mail. It’s also quite canny on their part because they know that more often than not, people will use Google to find the website they’re looking for, even when they have the URL right in front of them. I’ve always found it rather curious when I see people doing this and when I ask them why, they never seem to have a very robust explanation – just “because it seems easier”.
It would be really interesting to see research on the percentage of people by day / month /year who type URLs into the Google search box, rather than in the browser navigation bar. Does anyone have access to this kind of data (ie. any Google employees)?
